A few kilometers north of Saintes Maries de la Mer along the RD570 you will find the Parc Ornithologique de Pont de Gau. 

Presently is a 60 ha bird sactuary, but it all started in 1949 when André Lamouroux put some birds of the Camargue on display in small aviaries.

 

There are footpaths snaking around the marshes, ponds, and reed beds from where you can observe flamingos, herons and other birds up close.

 

Not mentioned in the folders but very much present are the mosquitos, so it is wise to have your insect repellent ready.
