Chinchero is a small community in the Sacred Valley between Cuzco and Urubamba. Legend has it  that this town is the mythical
		 birthplace of the rainbow.

The church from the early 17th century is build on the ruins of an old Inca Palace, maybe
		from Inca Tupac Yupanqui.
The  main tourist attraction seems to be

		the Sunday Market.

		On our way back to
Cusco from Ollantaytambo we stopped at this little town late in the afternoon  in June 2008.

		We had an interesting
demonstration of the traditional way to dye alpaca wool while sipping coca tea. After all the altitude is a staggering 3762 meters!
