Kristinehamn is a small town on the shore of
Lake Vänern.

In long gone times the frozen lake was the scene of an brutal

battle, mentioned in the epic
Beowulf tale.

Nowadays Kristinehamn is known for the 15 meters tall concrete
Pablo
Picasso sculpture "Tête de femme", situated a few km south at the lakeshore.

Picasso build a small scale model of his design
and sent a photograph to the Norwegian artist
Carl Nesjar who then did the actual work.
The sculpture was inaugurated
		in 1965.

Picasso never travelled to Sweden to see it his own creation.

We were there in July 2016 and walked around this
		impressive "face of a woman".
