		This remains the  
		primary focus of the center but over time the wildlife rehabilitation function grew and the park attracts also tourists  
		from outside the province.
  
		 
  
		Inside the visitor center you get info about the park and its projects and they also have some stuffed  
		local animals on display.
  
		 
  
		A boardwalk leads the visitor along species-specific enclosures where the animals are displayed  
		in their natural environment.
  
		 
  
		Most of the animals are orphaned or injured and cannot be returned in the wild.
  
		  
		 
  
		To the east, Salmonier borders on the 
Avalon Wilderness Reserve and  
		it is not uncommon for wild animals like 
moose and 
caribou to stroll into the large undeveloped back area of the park.
