Bonne Bay was created by glaciers flowing down from the huge ice sheet that covered the Long Range Mountains during the Ice Ages.

At the end of the 18th century British fishermen illegally started small settlements around the bay. They fished for herring and later
for lobster and started a logging business.

		The towns of
Woody Point and Norris Point, located on opposing sides of the Bay, originate
		from that period.

BonTour's offer a 2 hour boat tour with great views of the bay and its settlements.

		You may
also see moose ashore, whales, dolphins and orca in the water and bald eagles in the sky.

On the way back to the dock at Norris
		Point members of the
Anchors Aweigh Band help mainlanders who desire to become an honorary Newfie. The ceremony
is called a screech-in and includes kissing a cod, perform a dance and knocking down a glas of
screech, the local rum.

		We
did the Bonne Bay tour on a rainy day in September 2017 and witnessed people being screeched-in.
