Quebec City is the proud capital of Quebec Provence. French is spoken everywhere, not only in parliament and government but also on
the streets. This gives the town a distinct imperial French atmosphere.

The city ranks among the oldest towns in Northern
America and is the only one that has preserved most of its fortified city walls and gates.

The Citadelle on
Cap Diamant is in active use by the Canadian Army but parts of it are open to visitors. From here you have stunning views of
the city and the St Lawrence River.

The eye-catcher is Château Frontenac, built as a grand railway hotel in 1893 and presently
		the world's most photographed hotel.

Old Quebec is divided in an Upper and Lower Town and for those that dislike climbing
there is the funicular from 1879.
The Lower Town is where you find the Historic District with old houses, narrow
streets, cozy restaurants and watering holes.

We strolled the streets of Quebec City in September 2017.
