Just west of Lagos, Mother Nature has carefully sculptured one of her many wonders, the spectacular rock formation of the Ponta
da Piedada . A limestone headland protrudes into the ocean and over the eons tides, waves, crushing winter storms and unabated
sunshine have severely weathered the 20 meters high cliff.

All of that action has resulted in amazing grottos, huge blow holes, towering
pillars, delicate arches and even secluded beaches.
The yellow-golden rocks contrast starkly with the turquoise colored sea.
To
fully grasp the beauty of the place you have to see it from below and above. In the Lagos Marina several companies offer trips to
the rocks in small open boats that navigate up-close around the rocks and into the caves.
From the parking lot near the lighthouse
on top of the headland several trails crisscross the cliffs providing amazing panoramas. Stairs lead you down all the way to the ocean
where you can hire a kayak or board a small boat.
