The nature reserves Hedelse Bovenwaard and Empelse Waard are separated by the Maas, but for birds it is one
area, as the landscape is pretty similar with flowery meadows and young riparian forests.

		Wings do have certain advantages.
Scores
of songbirds can be seen here, such as the tiny Firecrest, Treecreeper, Garden Warbler, Marsh Warbler, Spotted Flycatcher, Eurasian
		Wren and  Gay.

And sometimes you may spot a Green Woodpecker.
In spring Barn Swallows are busy gathering wet clay for their nests.
In winter colorfull migratory birds like Redrwing and Eurasian Siskin stop by to forage.
I use a Canon SX70 HS camera to shoot the birds. This camera may not always produce super-sharp images, but its extreme focal length of 1365 mm and low weight allows you to wander around and get close-ups of the birds while keeping your distance.
The
		photos are from 2021 onwards.
